Description

This activity is the perfect accompaniment to your plant unit! Activity differentiation is included! Students will make “A Plant’s Parts” booklet describing each plant part and include a diagram of each part.

Page 4: Title Page

Page 5: Taking Root – Students will first describe the function of the roots. Then, at the bottom of the page, students will draw an illustration of soil with roots. Optional – Provide students with pieces of brown yarn to glue and represent as the roots (see teacher sample).

Page 6: Stems Stand Tall – Students will describe the function of the stem. Students will illustrate the soil, roots, and stem. Optional – Provide students with a green straw to represent the plant’s stem (see teacher sample).

Page 7: Leaves at Work – Students will describe the function of the leaves. Students will illustrate the soil, roots, stem, and leaves. Optional – Use green paper to print the leaves found on page 14 for students to glue.

Page 8: Flowers, Seeds, and Fruits – Students will describe the function of all three parts. Students will illustrate the soil, roots, stem, leaves, and flower. Optional – Print the flowers found on page 15 for students to glue.

Page 9: Flowering Plant Diagram – Students will draw and label the entire flowering plant.

Pages 10-13: These pages are the same as above, but better suited for your higher-level students, as they will need to write their own sentences describing the function of each plant part. They will need to include the vocabulary words found on each page in their sentence.

Pages 14-15:Printable leaves and flowers

Pages 16: A printable flowering plant diagram
