Description

Welcome! In this full-page activity, students will analyze seven different element symbols that appear on a periodic table. Students will write the element name and state whether its symbol comes from its English or Latin name. Students will record the number of protons, electrons, and calculate the number of neutrons. Students will identify the atomic number and the atomic mass. Students finally will classify each element as a metal, non-metal, metalloid, or noble gas.

I included a boxed in set of guidelines at the top of the page for differentiating the families of elements and for determining the mass and the number of neutrons. This activity comes with a two-page key with the answers in colored font.

This PDF document will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Program.
