Description

Are you looking for a AP European History review that covers ART in a fun way? This is a hands-on activity that for small groups that has students stacking the answer with solo type cups. It's an interactive, fun and exciting way to review art periods in AP European History - and is COMPLETELY EDITABLE!

  • In this review game, students stack cups labeled with the titles of the art periods (you print the labels out from this power point and tape them on the cups) to race! Students will see an image (from this power point), then they quickly discuss in groups what the image is and what period it belongs in. Then you say "go" and they stack cups in towers with the answer on top. There is no "correct" way to stack the cups - let the students be creative!

Art Eras included:

EVERYTHING IS EDITABLE! I've left this in power point!

  • Renaissance
  • Mannerism
  • Baroque
  • Neoclassicism
  • Rococo
  • Romanticism
  • Realism
  • Impressionism/Post-Impressionism
  • Surrealism
  • Dadaism
  • Fauvism
  • Modern Art

What is included:

  • power point with 35 slides (images - answers "fly" in on power point)
  • Art period labels for cups - you print from slide 3 (editable)
  • Teacher instructions

  • This is an active review game that allows for students to take the lead! If you listen carefully, you'll be able to tell immediately what they are still struggling with and can debrief/review accordingly.

Teacher Notes:

  • All you need is the cups and tape. Just print those out and tape them, then use this power point to review!

How many cups to do you need?

  • 12 cups per group of students. So if you have 32 kids in your class, I would put kids in groups of 3 or 4. So 12 cups x 8 groups - 96 cups. I would get more just in case a cup cracks etc. The Dollar Store often has cups.
  • I also suggest you get at least 2 colors of cups. This allows you to stack the cups in your cabinet in alternate colors.
  • You also need tape. I used clear packing tape.
