Description
Students will compare and contrast Ancient Athens and Sparta by watching two videos (4 and a half minutes for Ancient Athens and 4 minutes for Sparta) and answering 25 and 18 questions respectively. Then will then complete a creative extension task if time allows. The videos are from TedEd.
Sample questions include:
--Why didn’t Sparta have defensive walls?
--Identify a challenge, or shortcoming, in having to rely on outside accounts for what life was like in Sparta.
--Who was given the honor of a tombstone upon death and why?
--How was 1/3 of Athens’ population wiped out?
--Summarize the topic to be discussed by the citizens.
--Why did two ships set sail for Mytilene?
--Ancient Athens was noted for being democratic, but in what was could it be considered un-democratic?
