Description
Throughout this 4 part digital simulation game, students will complete tasks/quests, which allow them to explore the culture, history, and downfall of this once great empire! These interactive tasks include skills such as; inferencing, reading comprehension (WebQuests), map reading, making choices, and using strategy to gain "lives" or risk becoming captured! Students will travel back in time as they complete quests through the lens of an Aztec Merchant (commoner), Warrior, or Emperor.
In this standalone or supplemental resource, you will have all the tools to let students explore this topic and build knowledge in an interactive and engaging format. Students will complete tasks and fill out a "Codex" where they can extend their thinking and learn through specific tasks and WebQuests.
Quest 1: Aztlan Re-location
The Aztecs are re-locating. Using clues and Google Earth, students will find where the Aztecs settled. Following the quest, students will complete a Codex (The Aztecs used codexes to record important events).
Quest 2: Establishing an Empire
Students will map out a route and make decisions based on their character tasks. The google form will adjust to the student's choices and determine an outcome for their character.
Quest 3: Calendar Challenge
Students must put their heads together like an escape room to solve a problem. They will have access to resources that will help them find the clues needed to unlock the codes and complete the quest.
Quest 4: The Invasion
Students will test their knowledge and think like an Emperor. Can they make better choices, or will they suffer the same fate?
You will receive a "landing page" when you buy these resources. This page will have all the links required for you to copy and share this fantastic adventure with your students. You can link the quests to the student's page for easy access and better flow. I have also included teacher slides that show you where to link quests, some of the standards included in each portion, and answer keys.
Best for grades 3-5
