Description
Welcome! This listing features a full-page worksheet that will help students practice classifying bacteria by gas exchange and by their mode of nutrition. On page one, students will determine and record whether the bacteria stated in the eleven scenarios are obligate aerobes, facultative anaerobes, or obligate anaerobes. On page two, students will determine and record whether the bacteria featured in another eleven scenarios are photoautotrophs, chemoautotrophs, or heterotrophs.
Many of the scenarios offer clues. I provided a definition for each of the three primary classifications of bacteria at the top of each page. Several of the definitions outline the parameters of a specified bacteria's domain where they are likely to obtain their energy and meet their optimal breathing requirements.
I assign this exercise in my high school biology class. This document will become editable upon conversion to Microsoft Word using an Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Program. It comes with a two-page key with the answers highlighted in bold red font.
