Description

Thank you for your interest in our Baseball Hall of Fame Research Project from

Happy Hive Homeschooling / Homeschool Holiday.com.

This activity is ready for BOTH your in person and Distance Learning teaching needs.

Our products are designed to help celebrate the everyday holidays, and this can be used to recognize the establishment of the Baseball Hall of Fame on June 12, 1939.

You can also use it at the start of the season, or as an engaging way to support any number of books about baseball or famous ball players.

Students can research any or all of the following included Hall of Fame players:

Ozzie Smith

Rollie Fingers

Jackie Robinson

Hank Aaron

Babe Ruth

Derek Jeter

I have provided an introduction to baseball video to get the lesson started. (This lesson also appears in my MAP THE MAJORS, and BASEBALL BINGO). It is designed to help those who may not be as familiar with the sport excited about the project, and those already familiar will enjoy the refresher!

Learners will gather knowledge about the Baseball Hall of Fame and 6 different players that are members of the Hall of Fame. As they research the players using the included Informational Text, and QR codes (or links) they take notes and compile a mini book (Baseball Glove or Baseball) about the players. This helps learners summarize what they have read and seen through the videos, and demonstrate their learning to the teacher.

The Baseball Cards can be as simple or as detailed as you'd like - there are a variety to choose from. The most detailed are linked / QR code to the player's Hall of Fame fact page where their personal career statistics can be found and copied onto the card.

The GOOGLE version of this activity is designed to make sending documents to students easier, in a distance learning model. They would need to print the mini books and complete those if you choose to assign them. The Baseball Card portion has been converted to "text boxes" for ease of use, and students are asked to insert an actual photograph of players instead of drawing. (This skill is not taught as part of the lesson - finding image, inserting, sizing, etc.) The Videos and links are all ready to go and provide learners with independent, engaging work that is standards based.
