Description
Students will watch and analyze a 4 minute video about Bayard Rustin's role in and contribution to the Civil Rights Movement by answering 23 questions and completing an extension task for his legacy. The answers are included where appropriate. The video is from TedEd.
Sample questions include:
--Summarize the goals of the answer to question 2.
--Why was Rustin predisposed to be a peaceful protester?
--Why did he join, and then leave, the communist party?
--How did he prepare to handle such concerns?
--In what way was Rustin in a “no win” situation?
--To what extent would you say Rustin achieved his goals?
--Now that you’ve watched the video, do you still understand/interpret the quote at the beginning the same way, why or why not?
