Description
Students role-play as a group of field scientists hired to study BIODIVERSITY and overall health of an imaginary island. Students must count the amount of animals found at different ecoregions around the island, making graphs to compare. They then must reference a map to determine which species is healthiest and highest in biodiversity.
A high interest, fun, hands on lab experience for students ranging from 6th-12th grade. Use as either an introduction or a review of the concept.
The experience has built in ENL and special education modifications to allow all learners access to the curriculum (developed with a co-teacher). The experience has been tested and implemented with well over 100 students to ensure quality.
Lab station materials provided along with a student worksheet.
Questions at the end of the lesson asses understanding.
