Description
This resource is a quick and easy companion to the book Bully Beans by Julia Cook. It is a collection of discussion and comprehension cards to use with your students after reading the story. Just print and use with no prep and no other work involved. We’re all short on time and having a handy no prep list of meaningful discussion questions to accompany story time is always a great time saver. There is no lesson plan to read through, or other work to be done. I like to place the cards in a pile and have volunteers come to the front of the reading rug and choose a card. Having them read the card to the class is a great way to continuously promote literacy skill and practice while teaching important skills to handle bullying. Some teachers and counselors like to use the cards as a "pair and share" activity. There is a bonus story with comprehension questions to accompany it as well.
Hopefully this can become a springboard for meaningful conversations about how to treat others, and how to stand up for others.
Some teachers like to print the blank cards, place the question cards on desks, and use the resource as a “mini scoot” center activity.
Laminating and putting them on a ring to store with the book is a great way to stay organized and save space! Turn them into a booklet for even more fun! (Kids love booklets!)
