Description
Whether you are searching for that Constitution Day lesson or beginning a unit on the Constitution, this bundle is ideal!
As an introduction, the bundle begins with a paraphrased version of both the Constitution and Bill of Rights, as well as a series of 21 questions based on the document. Using this assignment, students will develop a rudimentary knowledge of the three branches of government (including which article pertains to which branch), the powers of each branch, the relationship between the federal government and the states, and the Bill of Rights. An answer key is included.
Also included is a PowerPoint that introduces students to the principles behind and structure of the Constitution. Students will learn about the meaning and origins of federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances (among others), and will then examine how the Constitution is laid out: the Preamble, articles, sections, and certain amendments. The presentation also leads students through each article of the Constitution, emphasizing Articles I, II, and III. The PowerPoint uses a Calibri font and includes custom animation, both of which can also be adjusted as needed.
The graphic organizer is for students to use during the presentation; a completed organizer is also included.
I use these resources in my own class room. They have had a significant impact on my own students' understanding of the Constitution, and are something to which students can refer throughout the year. I am certain you will find these a valuable addition to your curriculum.
