Description
Students learn about buoyancy, density, sinking, floating, liquids, gases and volume in this exciting STEM science experiment with a WOW result. This exciting activity utilizes the scientific method and addresses NGSS standards. Includes instructions for a fun classroom demo and science toy that will last long after the experiment is done.
Included are: teacher notes, a reproducible lab sheet for your students, and post-experiment teacher notes which explain what students will have observed, along with a kid-friendly explanation, and extension activities. The classroom-tested instructions are simple and require only materials students already have at home (empty bottle, straw, paper clips).
This is a hands-on lab that is incredibly easy for a teacher to implement. Parents and guardians enjoy seeing kids doing an actual experiment at home and watching the surprising results.
Your students will love doing this!
This experiment works very well for distance learning and remote learning since the few required materials are things that students already have in their homes. It also works well as an exciting in-class laboratory activity, science center or science station.
