Case 3 Shogunate Japan Nun Shogun Hōjō Masako

This worksheet and PowerPoint Presentation are to supplement the podcast History Detective. Case 3: Behind Every Warrior, explores the story of the shogun nun Hōjō Masako an incredibly significant figure in Shogunate Japan as the wife of the first shogun. These resources could be used a context study for a the Meiji Restoration or a unit on  Medieval Shogunate Japan. Students will build vocabulary, analyse sources, engage with the historical concepts of significance, reliability and ethics and complete further research comparing and contrasting European and Japanese Medieval cultures.
