Case 5 Women's Rights Bicycle Face and Dress Reform

This worksheet and PowerPoint Presentation are to supplement the podcast History Detective. Case 5: Poetry in Motion explores the story of the original fake news story of Bicycle Face, and how the popularisation of the bicycle sparked a revolution in dress reform and more freedoms for women in society. These resources could be used a context study for a the women's rights movement, or for an Australian Making a Nation unit. Students will build vocabulary, analyse sources, engage with the historical concepts of reliability, usefulness, perspectives, continuity and change and complete a guided research activity.
