Case 9 Roza Shanina WWII Russian Sniper

This worksheet and PowerPoint Presentation are to supplement the podcast History Detective. Case 9: Roza Shanina, Russian Sniper, looks at what life was like for a woman sniper in the Red Army during WWII. These resources are designed be used a unit on WWII to highlight a female perspective during the war. One of the focus skills for the lesson is reliability of sources, but students will also build vocabulary, analyse sources, engage with the historical concepts of context, perspective, motive, implicit and explicit evidence, audience and context. Can be taught over 2 lessons.
