Description
Categories 2 is a game where students sort twenty words into five separate sets of four words. Words in each set share a common theme. Some words fit into more than one category, so they may have to be rearranged to get exactly five sets of four words. One word has already been placed in each set.
This resource includes both a paper and digital copy of each game board. There are 25 game boards altogether.
The paper copy is excellent for students to work on individually or as a class. It’s ideal for early finishers or students who love an extra challenge. These can be photocopied and kept on hand. Answer keys are included.
The digital PowerPoint version is great to do with all your students as a class warm-up, for a brain break, or during regular class time to encourage critical thinking and vocabulary building.
For the PowerPoint version, start by clicking to reveal a new game board. Allow time for students to try to group the words into five sets with a common theme. After students have had time to work at the puzzle, you can check their answers by clicking further in the presentation. Each new click will display a category and the words that fit into it. Each category is highlighted in a different color to easily distinguish it.
