Description
Students will learn about the people and events that led to the Texas Revolution by reading 3 pages, completing a graphic organizer, and answering 32 questions. They will then read, analyze, and compare and contrast excerpts from letters written by Stephen Austin and General de Cos in 1835.
If time allows, they can label a map, analyze images, complete a timeline, and work with point of view. A teacher information page and the answers are included. This could work for a sub! See the preview for a closer look!

--Identify the key difference between Centralists and Federalists.
--Why do you think Austin supported Mexico in this rebellion?
--Discuss how this event was a cause of the Texas Revolution.
--Which of the above laws is reflected in the following text?
--Why did the Battle of Velasco happen and what was its outcome?
--For what reason was Austin arrested? Identify one reason it was believed to be warranted at the time and one argument that it was not.
--How did de Cos make the situation seem worse for Texans in terms of looking towards the future?
--Explain the political thinking transition Austin went through while he was imprisoned in Mexico.
