Christopher Columbus Activity Legacy Debate Video Guide Analysis

Students will watch and analyze a 5 and a half minute video about the two sides of Columbus' legacy by answering 20 questions and completing 2 creative tasks. The answers are included where appropriate. The video is from TedEd.   

Sample questions include: 
--For what purpose did Columbus set sail?
--Why did some people not support Columbus in his venture?
--Why does the defense say the Viking settlements didn’t carry the same weight/significance?
--What is one way the defense supports celebrating Columbus Day?
--How does the prosecution reply?
--Based on what you learned in class and in this video, do you consider Columbus more of an intrepid explorer or a ruthless exploiter and why?
