Civil Rights Movement DBQ

Students will analyze 19 documents (8 are images), answer 19 historical context questions, complete a sorting chart, and write a DBQ essay to review the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. There are 11 essay prompts for students to pick from but one allows for the class or teacher to make their own. The answers are included where appropriate and the initial analysis part would be great for a sub! ***Some of the sourcing is a bit generalized so that students have to place it in the historical context/event themselves.***

Sample questions include:
--Identify the main point of Document 1 and a Civil Rights leader who would have supported its sentiments.
--Describe the historical context of Document 4.
--Identify a cause and effect of Document 5.
--Explain why the excerpts in Document 8 were necessary.
--Rewrite Document 12 in your own words to demonstrate understanding. 
--Which amendment was reinforced with Document 17, and how did Document 17 strengthen it?
--What was the overarching goal of Document 18?
