Civil War Preview Slide Presentation

When I teach this in class, it takes 45 minutes. I start with a KWL of the Civil War and have the students fill out and discuss the K and the W.   We do a discussion about slavery with the first few slides and this invokes a lot of interest and questions from students.  These first few slides about slavery and the discussion last about 25-30 minutes.Then the last 10 minutes or so are where I ONLY play the music and show the slides of the effects of the war, amputations, etc.  When finished we go back and correct the K’s where needed and add our L’s. This slideshow features dead bodies and other images designed to invoke emotion from the students so that it “hooks” them into the lesson and hopefully puts more of this in their long-term memory.

It covers the SE's for the Civil War and then it shows the effects of the Civil War.
