Description

Students actively engage (by playing character roles or by completing a worksheet as the play is read) to learn about Julius Caesar, why he was killed, and the ripple effects of his death. NO PREP required; print & go!  Includes Class Discussion questions which allow you to go into depth and to make sure that all students have comprehended the material. Answer Keys are included.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS PLAY is that ALL students feel very comfortable engaging because no one has to have read the textbook, or completed anything else, prior to class. We all know that it's hard to get some kids to come to class prepared. Using a play to begin a unit helps students get excited about the content and then they are more likely to engage in the remainder of the unit. Use this to BEGIN your unit on the Roman Republic. It will capture students' interest and keep them anticipating about how the republic that they are learning about will end up assassinating Julius Caesar and fall apart.

CONTENTS:

  • Detailed play
  • 20-question Worksheet that accompanies the play and Answer Key
  • 5 class discussion questions and Answer Key

This activity could take as little as 50 minutes (class reads the play and completes their worksheets), 1.5 hours (read the play, worksheet, and begin brainstorming ideas for the the class discussion questions), or up to 2.5/3 hours depending on how engaged your students are when discussing the class discussion questions.
