Description

This Deck of BOOM! CardsTM is designed to allow student-scholars to learn about Common and Proper Nouns. They are specifically designed for in-class enrichment or self-paced remote or distance learning and practice, as well as for interactive review. Additionally, this deck is bilingual with instructional learning cards and task card instructions in both English and Spanish!

Although by the 6th grade students are not asked “which word in the sentence is a Proper Noun” on a test, without this knowledge their reading comprehension will suffer severely. As a reading interventionist for native English speakers who struggle with reading comprehension, SPED, and 504 students, as well as an ESoL teacher with beginner English Language Learners, I have come to realize how many of our students face this dilemma. This Deck was designed for these students!

In between the direct teaching cards that ask and answer the questions, we have a number of activity/task cards that allow our student-scholars the opportunity to practice identifying if a noun is common or proper. In total, there are 11 direct teaching cards and 49 randomized task cards! Click here for a preview of the deck!
