Description
This is a ready to use STEM lesson featuring the story Trashy Town. This lesson is built to be used around Community Helper Week. This lesson focuses on the job of the trash collector! We use the book as the hook and problem for our STEM challenge. Students are asked to engineer a trash can and then collect five pieces of "trash" from all around the room. This challenge is based for Pre-K or kindergarten students. This lesson gives you information about the book and then it give you the challenge, suggested materials, and guides you through the process of getting kids ready to complete the challenge. This one is set-up to be used with Pre-K, but you could do it at with kindergarten or 1st grade. I use the book as the hook and then turn the problem into our STEM challenge. There are also "trash" pieces for printing and laminating for children to use to test with. They can collect apple cores, banana peels, paper, and a plastic water bottle! Please feel free to share any feedback. I have more resources if you feel this one was helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my resources!
Be sure to check out my other Pre-K STEM challenges!
