Climate Zones Throughout the World – Webquest
The main objective of this lesson is for students to use a website to describe, assess, and compare various climate types
14 slide PowerPoint includes:
- Do Now Questions
- 6 Informational Slides on different Climate Zones
- Activity Instructions
- Conclusion Questions
Webquest Activity:
On the instruction sheet, a link to the website and instructions for each activity are provided.
Activity Option 1: Box Chart & Map Activity
- Students select 4 climate zones and color in where they are located on the map (this can be optional)
- On the box chart they create a key for their map in the space provided
- Next, they describe where the climate can be found along with its advantages/disadvantage’s
Activity Option 2: Top 3 Activity
- Students complete the worksheet by picking the top 3 climate zones. Next they describe their characteristics and explain their ranking.
- Alternate Top 5 activity is also provided!
Activity Option 3: Match Up Activity
- Students select 4 climate zones and compare their advantages and disadvantages
- They then select which climate zone in each match up is the best
- An alternate version of this activity with each climate type already selected is also provided!
Activity Option 4: Report Card Activity
- Students select a climate zone to assess and “grade” using the report card worksheet
