This is a simple Digital Reading Log that works great in Google Classroom. It was designed for Independent Reading Stop & Jots and reflection opportunities. You might think it is impractical having students need a technology device next to them as they read. And it does work (I've tried it), HOWEVER, it can be used another way as well.

The idea for a Digital Reading Log surfaced when I discovered my students having an overwhelming amount of paper sticky notes. Where does all that thinking go?

Now students can carefully select a few they want to include in their Digital Reading Log, while also taking advantage of reflection opportunities to further extend their thinking.

Either way, you can make this resource work for your students!

It is really helpful for monitoring students' progress, and gauging where their thinking is at. Also, it is a great discussion point during reading conferences.

INCLUDED ARE:
  • A list of ideas for students to help them find parts of the text that might be worthy of a Stop & Jot.
  • Sentence starters to help students expand on their initial sticky note idea/detail for the reflection portion of the log.
  • 2 Reading Log cover options.
  • 4 Sticky Note options.
  • 1 Reflection slide.
  • How to duplicate slides help slide.
