  • Distance Learning CCVC Word Chain Google Slides (Remote Ready Resource)
  • Part of phonemic awareness section. Students will see a picture of a pot, and then a picture of a spot (on the cow). They will be guided through segmenting the initial phoneme in words with consonant blends and will say s-pot. In later slides, they will be asked to remove the initial phoneme and tell what's left of the word.
  • Here students will see a picture of "drip". The blue box will zoom out of the screen, and they will be asked to "say drip without the /d/". Students should say "rip" and then a picture of a boy with a rip in his jeans will appear. Multiple slides follow to practice.
  • Students are asked to blend individual sounds and then read the whole word. A picture of that word will quickly zoom in after the pointer sweeps across the letter tiles.
  • Words on the following slides will change one letter at a time. Word chaining is a research-based strategy to improve decoding skills.
  • Students are shown a picture and asked to spell the word. Letters will appear one at a time for them to check.
  • Students will read decodable sentences and choose the correct word to complete the sentence.
