  • Show students the pictures of cup and cake.  Ask them what new word is made when you blend them together.  After they say, "cupcake", click the arrow or spacebar and a picture of the correct answer will appear.   Continue with the remaining slides.
  • Show students the picture of the blueberry.  Ask them to say the word slowly and chop it into syllables.  Ask them what the FIRST syllable is.  They should say, "blue".  On the next slide they will see a picture of the correct answer.  Continue with the remaining slides.

  • These slides help students practice syllable deletion, which is the ultimate goal.  The slides leading up to this section help prepare students for this more challenging skill.  Ask students to say, "eggplant". Then, ask them to take away the "egg" (first syllable) and say what's left of the word.  They should say "plant".  Click on the next slide for a picture of the correct answer.  Continue with the remaining slides.
