Description

Learning about endangered species in 3rd and 4th grades involves exploring the reasons certain animals are at risk of extinction and what can be done to protect them. The lesson plan includes reading about different endangered species, such as tigers, elephants, and sea turtles. Students engage in writing activities where they create reports or stories about an endangered animal of their choice. Extension activities could include a class project to adopt an endangered animal through a conservation organization, or creating posters and presentations to raise awareness about endangered species and the importance of protecting their habitats. These activities help students develop research, writing, and critical thinking skills while fostering a sense of environmental stewardship.
