European Exploration DBQ

Students analyze 10 documents, answer 10 historical context questions, complete a sorting chart, and write a DBQ essay to review the Age of Exploration. There are 6 essay prompts for students to choose from (one allows for the class or teacher to make one of their own). The answers are included where appropriate and the initial analysis part would be great for a sub!  ***Some of the sourcing is generalized so that students have to place it in the historical context/event themselves.***

Sample questions include:
--What was a motivation, and/or benefit, of exploration per Document 2?
--Identify what is depicted in Document 4.
--Summarize the historical context leading to de Las Casas’ reflections in Document 7.
--Identify and explain the motivation for exploration in Document 9.
