Executive Order 9981 Primary Source Analysis

Students will read President Truman's Executive Order 9981 on equal treatment and opportunity in the military and answer 8 questions (some are text based and some require students to draw their own conclusions). They will also analyze four World War 2 (WW2, WWII) era sources and make a connection between them and Truman's Executive Order. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub! 

Sample questions include:
--Where could someone against this measure find a loophole in item 1?
--Summarize the purpose of the President’s Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services.
--Does this document reflect the end to the Double V campaign, or the next step in its continuation, and why?
--Given this push by Truman, why do you think the army wasn’t fully desegregated until 1951?
