Description
This four week mini course includes seesaw and google classroom links for weekly activities for the students to follow to learn how to write an adaptation of a fairytale. The students will learn what constitutes a fairytale, comparing original vs. adaptations, getting to watch a lot of read alouds of adaptations to motivate them and finally the last week drafting their own to share and celebrate! There is a rubric at the end too for grading purposes!
Week 1:
Discuss components of a fairytale and analyze and compare traditional version of Cinderella to an adaptation. Draft their own version of Cinderella!
Week 2:
Analyze and compare traditional version of Little Red Riding Hood to an adaptation. Draft their own version of Little Red Riding Hood!
Week 3:
Analyze and compare traditional version of The Three Little Pigs to an adaptation. Draft their own version of The Three Little Pigs.
Week 4:
Choose one of the adaptations they have written and draft it out using a story mountain, creating their story, editing and drawing illustrations and front cover. Finally, celebrating and recording themselves reading the book to share with the rest of the class!
