Ferdinand Magellan Exploration Activity Video Guide Analysis

Students will watch and analyze a 5 and a half minute video about Ferdinand Magellan and his attempt to circumnavigate the globe by answering 26 questions and completing an extension task. The answers are included where appropriate and the video is from TedEd. 

Sample questions include:
--Using context clues, what does “unprecedented” mean?
--Who was Antonio Pigafetta and why was he on the expedition?
--What was the first major challenge Magellan encountered on this journey?
--What noteworthy role did Enrique have when the ships reached the first island in the Pacific?
--Explain the connection between Magellan, Cebu, and Mactan.
--Why wasn’t Enrique freed after Magellan’s death?
--In what way could it be said that Juan Sebastian Elcano redeemed himself?
