Description
Students will read and analyze a brief account of Ferdinand Magellan's explorations and his death in 1521 by answering 13 questions and completing a extension task. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!
Sample questions include:
--Why might Magellan have ultimately sailed on behalf Spain rather than his native Portugal?
--From whom do we get this account and how accurate do you consider it?
--Why might Magellan's men have left him behind?
--Explain the strategy of the natives only shooting at the Europeans’ legs.
--Should Magellan continue to have the legacy he does in modern society and in history textbooks, why or why not?
