Forms of Energy

Target learning:

• I can identity 5 forms of energy
  • I can explain the uses and purpose for different forms of energy
  • I can list items from home that use more than one type of energy form
  • I can explore the uses of energy including thermal, electrical, light, Sound, and Mechanical

 This is a great way to introduce 5 forms of energy. The 5 types that the students will explore and Identify are thermal, electrical, light, Sound, and Mechanical. This is great to present way to later teach more complex idea.

 There are many more forms of energy than the ones on this lab. This is just a focus on five of the most common types. Feel free to address the other forms like magnetic, chemical, etc. Energy originates from the sun. Without energy there would be living organisms. Everything moving has energy, however when an object is not moving, the energy is stored until it is needed. The more energy an object has the easier it is to move or get things done.
