Description
Genres of Writing: 11 Genres & 36 Mixed Level Matching Cards - Reading Activity - Montessori-inspired printable Reading & Writing help (36 Cards + key):
What are the Genres of Writing?
Two sets of cards included. The first 11 pages are the GENRES OF WRITING cards, with descriptions and examples of 11 of the most common writing genres. The next 18 pages are reading passage cards (2 on each page, making 36 total).
The idea is to match each learning passage card to its correct GENRES OF WRITING card. The larger cards can be laid out on a table or the floor. Each reading passage card is then placed underneath their correct genre.
What to do: Simply print out the GENRES OF WRITING cards (11) and the reading passage cards (18) on color card stock or on a thicker stock paper. I use an “old paper color.” Answer key is located in red at the bottom right of each reading passage card (upside down).

Dr. Maria Montessori believed the only way our world would find lasting peace was through educating our children. Much of her elementary curriculum was written by her during a period of internment in India during WWII. This time period helped solidify Dr. Montessori’s belief in Peace Education.
