TIME FRAME: Five 60-MINUTE CLASS PERIODS (5 HOURS)

TYPE OF ACTIVITY: GROUP COOPERATION OR INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY

OBJECTIVE:

o The learner will identify major landforms of Europe.

o The learner will compare Western Europe with Eastern Europe.

o The learner will explore developed and developing European countries.

o The learner will understand the balance of powers in various types of government in Europe.

o The learner will understand various aspects of the European culture.

MATERIALS:

o Three-prong folder

o Glue, scissors, markers, crayons.

o Computer, iPad or smart phone for each student or group with the capability of scanning QR codes.

o Student Packet, 1 per student

PREPARATION:

1. Instructor will duplicate packets as specified under the “Materials” section on next page.

2. Computers, or iPad or smart phone with scanning QR codes capability need to be available for each team.

3. If you choose to have students work in groups, arrange desks in teams of 3-4, as they will be working in groups all week. If you choose for them to sit at a different group with different team members each day, this would be a good opportunity for them to have the chance to work with multiple classmates throughout the week.
