Description

Are you looking for a hands-on review activity over the Gilded Age and Progressive Era? Are you wanting an activity that allows students to make connections and verbalize their thinking? This Hexagonal Thinking activity is perfect.

If you are new to Hexagonal thinking, it is an incredible activity to help students make connections review a topic. The engagement is super high, because students are thinking deeper to make as many connections as possible. (I used this activity for my observation this year and my AP loved it!)

How to play:

  • I put students in groups of 4 - each with a set of Hexagons (Different color of card stock for each group)
  • After selecting the 1st hexagon to begin, students in the group take turns adding a card to make connections. As they do, they have to verbally explain their connections to their group. Each hexagon can connect up to 6 times!
  • After each group is finished, I have them write a summary of connections of one or two parts of the competed activity.

What's included:

  • 118 Hexagons covering the Gilded Age and Progressive Era (based on the TEXAS TEKS - 2019)
  • 7 blank Hexagons - you can add your own if you wish
  • Detailed instructions for the teacher
