Description

Students will read a short passage on Ancient Roman gladiator games and a Roman account of the games, answer 15 questions, and create their own gladiatorial games (6 prompts provided) complete with an advertisement. The answers are included where appropriate and this would be great for a sub!

Sample questions include:
--Why might the crowd have decided who survived or died? What larger purpose would that serve?
--How do we know how people felt about gladiators back then?
--Compare and contrast Seneca’s expectation of attending the games “the other day” versus his actual experience.
--What is the purpose of Seneca’s final paragraph?
--Do you think there were any positive to being a gladiator? Why or why not?
