In this 17 page Middle East resource your students will learn about Muslim contributions that shaped our world today.

Contributions include: chess, hospitals, algebra, Arabic numerals, astrolabe, map-making, Avicenna "Canon of Medicine", al-Khwarizmi, Sufism, "The 1001 Nights", calligraphy, domes, minarets and MORE!

Specifically:

1) Students will complete a pictorial warm-up in which they examine paintings depicting Muslim contributions, they discuss their observations with a partner and then annotate black and white versions.

2) Then students will use their classroom textbook and/or an ONLINE Exhibition, article, and resource that will guide them in their research of Muslim contributions. Students will access these websites by scanning included QR CODES or web addresses.

3) Lastly, students will complete a creative EXIT Card activity.

The activities in this download can be completed without internet/computer access but internet access definitely enriches the activity.
