Laozi (also known as Lao-Tze or Lao-Tzu) "The Way of Life" Primary Source Reading - Google Drive - Print & Digital

Laozi was a Chinese philosopher who founded the religion known as Daoism. Daoism focused on the Day, or "The Way," and had a heavy emphasis on following the natural order of the world because it involves relationships with all living things. The resource has students analyzing passages from Laozi's famous book, The Way of Life. This is a great resource to add to your unit on Ancient China.

Suggestions for how to use this resource:

• Go over the first passage together as a class and then have students complete the remaining 2 passages independently
• Partner activity
• Homework assignment

For those of you who are teaching this with younger grades, I recommend completing the first one or two sayings as a class before either having students complete the activity independently or in pairs.
