THE STATE v. GOLDI LOCK
OVERVIEW
Through participation in a MOCK TRIAL students are given a hands-on opportunity to examine legal processes and issues, while they develop important critical thinking and presentation skills through the examination of a hypothetical legal case. Teams try their cases – from opening statements, through direct and cross-examination, to closing arguments, each team has its own attorneys and witnesses and must be ready to present either side of the case.
This is a fun mock trial to try with STUDENTS IN GRADES 6-12 and adults of any age. It is a criminal case that revolves around the testimony of the witnesses on each side. Concepts that are learned and practiced and can be expanded on by teachers include:
• Criminal vs. Civil Law
• Prosecution and Prosecutors
• Defense and Defendants
• Witnesses
• Telling the Truth and Perjury
• Understanding Different Perspectives
