Description

Make science homework meaningful by learning science by doing!

Help students to see and understand that white light is composed of all colors. Students get wildly excited by the astounding results when they see a red, white and blue flag on a blank white sheet of paper.

This is an excellent hands-on experience for all students to learn about how they see color.

Included are: teacher notes, a reproducible lab sheet for your students, a reproducible coloring sheet for doing the experiment, and post-experiment teacher notes which explain what students will have observed, along with a kid-friendly explanation, and extension activities. The classroom-tested instructions are simple and require only materials students already have at home (three crayons).

This is a hands-on lab that is incredibly easy for a teacher to implement. Parents enjoy seeing kids doing an actual experiment at home and watching the surprising results.

Your students will love doing this. In the process, they learn about eyes, color, light, the anatomy of the eye including the pupil, light waves, how color is absorbed and transmitted, white light is made of all the colors in the spectrum, and more.

This experiment works very well for distance learning and remote learning since the few required materials are things that students already have in their homes. It also works well as an exciting in-class laboratory activity, science center or science station.

I liked this activity because it followed the Scientific Method and it was easy! My students liked it because they thought it was "cool" and fun! Great resource!

    Big WOW factor

I love that the students discover on their own by using this series. The learning really sticks and they can not stop talking about it! Easy to use as a center or assign as homework. The teacher does not need any special knowledge either- this science is READY to go!

As an ELA teacher, I look for science materials that have excellent teacher implementation and explanation notes - and this resource has that! I used this resource with my 4th grade grand daughter, and she loved it! Her brothers both want to do it now as well! (2 and 5 year olds!) Thanks!
