Measure - Place Value, Converting, Problem Solving (Length, Weight, Capacity)

INSPIReducation developed this resource as we couldn't find anything else like it! We wanted to support our children apply their place value knowledge in x and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 within the context of measure.

We wanted the children to be able to use a resource that was quick to use, easy to change and reinforced prior learning, whilst supporting the children in using key skills within a life skill.

We previously published a FREE measures poster which was used by many to display in their classrooms to change one measure into another. We have now completed the PowerPoint which accompanies the measures posters.

This resource contains the following features:

• Handy hints posters for the classroom including language links
• Conversion posters for the classroom (length, weight, capacity)
• Demonstration questions (5 slides) for length, weight and capacity conversion using place value skills
• 53 slides containing one question per slide in the following measures:
• centimetres to metres and vice versa
• metres to kilometres and vice versa
• millimetres to centimetres and vice versa
• litres to millilitres and vice versa
• grams to kilograms and vice versa
• questions also use fractions and decimals of measures to extend learning

We have used this resource in our classroom and the children have quickly understood how to apply their prior learning within the new topic of measures. We placed the conversion charts on tables for the children to use, and then slowly withdrew them when the children were more confident in their independent skills.
