This resource really works!

It embeds math number skills, encourages independence in children, and once set up with the children trained in how to organise the resources, their is no preparation needed, no planning required and provides instant assessment on the children's number knowledge. It can be differentiated for younger learners by removing some of the more complex cards, and extend the older and more able mathematician by adding all of the cards and additional method cards if required.

The resource includes:

  • PowerPoint demonstration lesson of over 20 questions and images
  • Playing Cards - photocopiable for each child in the class
  • Full instructions and images demonstrating how to set up and use the resource

Playing is easy:

Each child receives a set of the playing cards.

Once purchased, you are able to copy one set of resources for every child in your class.

Full instructions and images are provided for the teacher to set up the scheme with the children. It is expected that children should be able to set up their cards independently and quickly after the first session.

How to play:

Following set up, a PowerPoint presentation is provided to show the teacher and children how the activity works. This is a demonstration lesson. It includes a series of over 20 questions and images as to how the answers should be shown.

Questions for the children allow them to practice moving the cards around their working space. It is also included for the teacher to see how the answer of one question leads to the focus of the next question. Once observed, the teacher can then run the sessions with no planning and no further resource implications.

The demonstration also provides links with all of the objectives focused upon within the activity, showing how quickly and effectively learning can be covered.

How often can the games be played?

We use these cards each day to enhance accuracy in number work, speed of working and embedding learning.
