Fun with Money and QR Codes!
- Students count money amounts using quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies.
Included in this product:
- 1 money game - The Value of Words
- 6 activities to help students practice their money skills
Great for math centers, independent practice, and for students to practice money skills at home. (Minimal preparation is needed for all activities.)
Students can play the game and do the activities with or without using the QR codes. Answer keys are included if the students do not have access to an electronic device with a QR code reader. (There are free QR code scanners available online.)
All task cards and alphabet code sheets come in color and black and white.
112 total task cards – 4 themes – 56 unique designs
- 24 task cards - zoo animals (12 cards in set 1 and 12 cards in set 2) The 12 cards in each set contain the same words.
- 24 task cards - sea life (12 cards in set 1 and 12 cards in set 2) The 12 cards in each set contain the same words.
- 32 task cards – food (16 cards in set 1 and 16 cards in set 2) The 16 cards in each set contain the same words.
- 32 task cards - miscellaneous items (16 cards in set 1 and 16 cards in set 2) The 16 cards in each set contain the same words.
- Each theme contains numbered task cards with answer keys and task cards with QR codes.
2 Alphabet code sheets
- Set 1: contains quarters, dimes, and nickels
- Set 2: contains quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies
There are several variations (an alphabet chart and a list of letters) of the alphabet code sheets for students to use with each set of cards. All variations include the heads side and the tails side of the coins.
The activities and game require students to use the alphabet code sheets.
The Value of Words game summary: (Students can use the task cards without playing the game.)
- Each player picks a task card that contains a word.
- The players look at the code sheet to find each letter, identify the coin next to the letter, and write the value of the coin under each letter.
- Players calculate the total value of their word.
- Players scan the QR code/or check the answer key to see if they are correct.
- Players calculate the number of points they earn.
- There are 2 scoring options for the game. Players either flip a coin or use a point value chart.
- Game examples are included for both scoring options.
6 Activities – Great for centers and homework assignments
- Suggestions and worksheets for using the alphabet code sheets without the task cards.
- Worksheets for each theme – total of 6 worksheets
- Activities for homework or individual class work
- Mini Project – Students make their own task cards and alphabet code sheets. Student may include QR codes on their task cards (optional).
