Montessori BOOM Power of 10 with Golden Beads Math Decimal System Distance Learning (FREE)

NO PREVIOUS MONTESSORI EXPERIENCE OR MATERIALS REQUIRED!

These can be used by any child, whether they are part of a Montessori program or not.

This deck includes 16 exercise cards and 8 instruction cards, using the iconic Montessori Golden bead material. My Montessori decks are intentionally realistic looking in order to best replicate the Montessori learning experience.

The information and exercises in this deck are used:

  • To introduce the child to the concept of the decimal system.
  • To make the child familiar with the names and relative sizes of the categories.
  • To help the child with the difference in bulk between e.g. 6 units and 6 thousands.
  • To familiarize the child with the names of the hierarchies (categories).
  • To help the child understand the relative size of each quantity.
  • To offer a sensorial experience of the relative increments in size between hierarchies.
  • To acquaint the child with the written symbols for the new quantities learnt previously.

These cards can be used without (or with!) the actual Golden Bead Material.

This BOOM deck covers the following CCSS:

The numbers 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine hundreds (and 0 tens and 0 ones).
100 can be thought of as a bundle of ten tens - called a “hundred.”
Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones; e.g., 706 equals 7 hundreds, 0 tens, and 6 ones. Understand the following as special cases:
The numbers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine tens (and 0 ones).
The numbers from 11 to 19 are composed of a ten and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
10 can be thought of as a bundle of ten ones - called a “ten.”
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
