Description
Get students having fun practicing their times tables by playing BINGO!
What’s included?
- 10 different BINGO boards for the 1-6 times tables.
- These have a blue background, and are labelled for easy identification.
- 15 different BINGO boards for the 1-12 times tables.
- These are on a yellow background, and are labelled for easy identification.
- 10 pages of blue BINGO cards for the 1-6 times tables.
- These cards match the blue BINGO boards for the 1-6 times tables.
- There are no repetitions. For example, 1x2 is in the set, but 2x1 is not.
- 4 pages of yellow BINGO cards for the 7-12 times tables.
- These cards match the yellow BINGO boards for the 7-12 times tables.
- There are no repetitions. For example, 7x8 is in the set, but 8x7 is not. Also, they do not cover any multiplication facts from the 1-6 times tables.
- 11 pages of “extra” purple BINGO cards for the 1-12 times tables.
- These have a purple background, and are labelled so they are easy to pick out.
- These are the counterparts not included in the blue and yellow sets. For example, only 1x2 appears in the blue set, but 2x1 appears in the purple set.
How do I prepare?
- Print out as many boards as needed for your students.
- Choose which students practice their 1-6 times tables (blue boards), and which practice their 1-12 times tables (yellow boards).
- Laminate the boards or put them into plastic folders for durability.
- TIP: If you make a few extra copies of the boards, it will make it easier for students who want to trade boards as they continue playing.
- Have dry erase markers or counters for students to mark their BINGO boards.
- Print and cut out the BINGO cards that you need.
- If just using the blue boards (1-6 times tables), just print and cut out the blue BINGO cards.
- If using the blue and yellow boards (1-12 times tables), print and cut out BOTH the blue and yellow BINGO cards.
- Please note: If you want to use just the yellow boards, you still need to print and cut out BOTH the blue and yellow BINGO cards.
- If using just the blue and yellow cards, there are no repetitions. E.g., There is 1x2, but no 2x1. However, the purple cards include these counterparts/reversals (e.g., 2x1) if you need them.
How do my students play?
- Play as a class, in math centres, or in pairs. (TIP: Students who are struggling can share a board with someone who is proficient to help/check as needed.)
- Put the BINGO cards into a container to pick from one at a time. You (or a student) can call out the multiplication facts picked. E.g., 5x6.
- Each student has a board, and if they have the product for the multiplication fact called out, they can mark it with their dry erase markers or counters.
- A player wins (“BINGO!”) with 5 marked boxes in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. The “FREE!” box in the centre counts as a marked box.
- Students can continue to keep marking their boards to get multiple wins.
- TIP: If you are playing as a class, awarding team/group points for wins can help students to focus, and help one another.
