Graphic Organizer for students to use when working on Engineering Practices to help students clearly identify the criteria and constraints for the design and use those to guide key features of the design and testing of the prototypes.
Also includes teacher rubrics to use to assess student mastery of SEP skills in Planning and Carrying Out Investigations and Engineering Practices
Details
Planning and Carrying Out Investigations Organizer
Comes in three different versions, two that are more structured to help students brainstorm experiment designs one version uses the terms manipulated/responding variables and the other uses the terms independent/responding variables
Third version is for more experienced students to organize their research question, variables, lab set up and brainstorm how they will record data.
Rubric for Planning and Carrying Out Investigations is in a separate file.
Design Specifications and Test Results Organizer
Comes in two different versions that have the same content, but different visual layouts. When I use these, students are usually working in teams of 2-4 students and they will complete 2-4 of these forms for a project. The Design Version in the upper right corner is for students to indicate if it is the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th version and so on. This is helpful when students have to reflect on the process and evaluate which design was the best.
Rubric for Engineering Design is in a separate file.
