Description

Students will visit 4 websites to learn about Operation Paperclip which started at the end of WW2 and continued into the Cold War. There are 20 questions to answer of varying degrees of difficulty and are academic and opinion based. The answers are included where appropriate. If your students have internet access this would work for a sub! 

Sample questions include:
--Explain what led to the discovery of the Osenberg List, and what its value was. 
--Explain how that goal connects to the historical context of the immediate post-war decade.
--How could it have been justified to bring former members of an Axis country into America to work in an operation where the stakes were so high?
--Why do you think those brought to the United States were referred to as “prisoners of peace?”
--Explain the ethical dilemma Operation Paperclip created. 
--Under what circumstances should national security outweigh ethical concerns? Under what circumstances should ethical concerns outweigh national security issues?
--Was Operation Paperclip justified, why or why not?
