Description
Target learning: This activity is designed to give students a "hands-on" interaction with the process of different animal digestions, the skeletal system, and predator and prey anatomy and how its anatomy is tailored for its survival.
This lab includes a fold-able lab sheet for the students to glue into their science journal or spiral. It also includes a great chart with pictures of the bones that are usually found in the owl pellet.
The dissection of owl pellets can provide a valuable learning experience. Owl pellets contain the remains of small animals that the owl has ingested and regurgitating it out. These pellets give clues to how an owl lives. The bones of the owl prey are generally not broken and can be identified. The owl usually produces a pellet every day.
